Australian Mirror Legends

Australia has had some great success in the Mirror class and many sailors have gone on to be champions in other classes.  Here is a list of some of the Mirror Legends including:

• Paul Eldrid (1987 in Sligo, Ireland)
• Tom King (1991 in Hoorn, Holland) and 2000 Sydney Olympic Gold medallist 470
• Mark Padgett (1999 in Saldahna Bay, South Africa) and Hobie 16 ISAF World Sailing Games
• Torvar Mirsky (2001, Ireland)
• Nick Davis (South Africa 2007) who have finished very well in World Championships. Paul Eldrid and Tom King won their regattas and Mark Padgett, Torvar Mirsky and Nick Davis came 2nd.

The Class has also been the training grund for many of Australia's elite sailors including:

• Tessa Parkinson and Elise Rechichi - 2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medallists 470
• Ben Austin - 49er and member of the Australian Sailing Team
• Glen Collings - former OK Dinghy World Champion
• Paul Eldrid - 420 Runner-Up

And the Mirror is the current choice of the following elite sailors who have chosen it to bring their children into the sport:

• Lachlan Gilbert - 2009 Australian Mirror Champion and runner up 1990 Tornado Worlds
• John Dransfield - Three time Fireball World Champion
